Dear Mother,
Well I am in Paris. I had a nice night on the train with a whole compartment first class couchette to myself. It is chilly in Paris this morning. This evening I take the train to Nuremburg so I suppose I'll mail this at my sisters.
I am about to take the Cityrama Paris tour,

and maybe this afternoon I'll go to Versailles. I have also an invitation to eat for 6 F at a department store and also free tea, so if I can shop there I will and buy something and have it shipped.
I have just discovered that the customs rule reads that one person is not supposed to receive more than one package a day and how you know that I don't know. Especially if you have someone else do the mailing.
This a.m., I mailed two packages from Galleries Lafayette. A dress for the baby and the other one with gloves for us all. I bought a dress for D. in Marseille, which Bob has and also some soap. Some in shapes as mice and ducks, and some perfumed. I also got myself another washcloth.
I am now on the Versaille tour.

Card to my Daughter:
Dear Daughter
Look in the back on the right and you will see Mummy. This is the group picture they took of our guided tour in Versailles. When this was taken I was changing film. The lady on the left with the raincoat and rolled up newspaper was the guide. Tonight I go to see your Aunt and Uncle and cousin again.
Love Mummy
I WAS HERE (portion of the photo of the tour group
I wrote to my mom later: My seatmate was high as a kite before the tour even started. It started to rain lightly and was slippery as we went out to Versaille. My seatmate and I were directly behind the driver on the bus, so we could see both to the front and to the side, unlike the people in the back who were kind of entombed in their seats. Building from bus window Group entering Versailles Cobblestones - court to servants quarters Wet sideyard Wet courtyard
The driver applied the brakes, and the bus skidded on the cobblestones. It turned 180 degrees and hit the curb on the other side of a four to six lane road. Fortunately the streets were deserted because of everyone being at lunch and because of it being rainy.
I could see what was happening (as could my seatmate, and I was really afraid that she would throw up). The other people felt the spin, but couldn't really see what was happening.
We went on an did the tour (although my seatmate sat in the cafe and did some more drinking instead of the tour),

Dear Daughter
Today I saw your uncle at the train station, and he was a sight for sore eyes. I leave for Naples on Wednesday.
Next: visiting my sister in Nuremburg
